R.I.P - Did you know that Running Back Paul Hornung is the only player to win the Heisman Trophy from a losing team? When ‘Golden Boy’ took home the hardware in 1956 his Notre Dame squad finished at a lousy 2-8. Paul led his team in the following Categories:
Passing
Rushing
Scoring
Kickoff & Punt Returns
Punting
He also played defense and led his team in passes broken up and was second in interceptions and tackles made. R. I. P. Golden Boy

Happy Belated Birthday to a great one, Mr. Otis Taylor. Near the top of the list for should be Hall of Famer!
Safety Ronnie Lott led the NFL in Interceptions 2x over his Hall of Fame career. Lott had ten interceptions roaming the secondary for the 1986 San Francisco 49ers, & after signing as a free agent with the Los Angeles Raiders in 1991 Ronnie recorded eight picks to lead the league. He finished his amazing career with 63 INT’S.
In 1981 Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Alfred Jenkins led the NFL with 70 receptions for 1,358 yards and 13 touchdowns earning himself All-Pro Honors. Really feel like Atlanta messed up their new Uniform designs after looking at these beauties. Aw well..
Efren Herrera & holder Jim Zorn pulled off one of the best fake field goals of all-time back on October 29th, 1979. It was the Seattle Seahawks first appearance on Monday Night Football as they were in Atlanta to take on an underachieving Falcons team at Fulton County Stadium. After falling behind 14-0 the Seahawks screeched back to score 21 in the 2nd quarter. One of those TD drives continued with a little help of the aforementioned trickery of Herrera & Zorn. After lining up to attempt a 54 yarder, Zorn pulled the hold as Herrera heftily scooted by him up the middle. The lefty Zorn lobbed one for a wide open Herrera for a gain of 24. Seattle held off a late Falcons comeback to take home the win 31-28.
Dan Fouts led the NFL in passing for four straight seasons. (‘79-’82) He became the 1st QB in history to surpass 4,000 passing yards in three straight seasons. In 1981 he threw for 4,802 yards and 33 touchdowns in leading the Chargers to the AFC Championship Game.
Birthday shout-out to our guy Mr. Wendell Tyler!! Did you know Wendell is the 1st running back to lead two different teams in rushing during a Super Bowl? He gained 60 yards in the L.A. Rams 31-19 defeat in Super Bowl XIV to the Pittsburgh Steelers, and raked up 65 yards while a member of the San Francisco 49ers, when they whooped up on the Miami Dolphins in Super Bowl XIX 38-16.
Way back on November 10th, 1985 Philadelphia Eagles Wide Receiver Mike Quick snagged a slant from Quarterback Ron Jaworski and raced the rest of the way for a 99 yard Touchdown! The Eagles had squandered a 17-0 lead late in the game, and barely even made it to Overtime because Falcons kicker Mick Luckhurst had missed a 42 yarder at the end of regulation that would have won it. After a three and out, Falcons punter Rick Donnelly pinned the Eagles all the way back at their own 1 yard line with quite the brilliant boot. On 2nd down ‘Jaws’ found Mike who would split two Falcons DB’s to take it to the house, and celebrate a walk-off win for Philly 23-17. Happy Birthday Mike!
