It was back on October 12th, 1979 that Boston Celtics guard Chris Ford sunk the first official 3-pointer in NBA History. The man they called ‘The Mad Bomber’ finished his playing days in 1982 for the guys in green, but continued as an assistant coach, and eventually became Boston’s head man from 1990-95. The 114-106 Celtics victory over the Houston Rockets that night was also the debut game for a youngster out of Indiana State named Larry.

It was back on October 3rd, 1989 after a 1-3 start to the season that the Los Angeles Raiders named Offensive Line Coach Art Shell their new head coach, replacing the fired Mike Shannahan . With the promotion Art became the 1st African American Head Coach in modern NFL History.
Don Shula Gets win #325
With a 19-14 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles on November 14th, 1993, Miami Dolphins Head Coach Don Shula recorded his 325th win to become the winningest coach in NFL History. Can you guys name the rookie Quarterback who would later become a head coach himself that helped lead the Phins to the W that day?
Felipe Alou & The West Palm Beach Expos
Felipe Alou managed the Single A West Palm Beach Expos from 1986-1991. On May 22nd, 1992 he was promoted from bench coach to Manager of the Montreal Club becoming the 1st Dominican Manager in MLB History. The 1990 West Palm Expos, led by Alou, are ranked #89 on the top 100 Minor League Teams of All time. They went 92-40 and lost in the Florida State League Finals. Happy Birthday Felipe!
