Happy Belated Birthday to a childhood favorite, Mr. John Offerdahl. John was a 2nd round pick in 1986 for the Dolphins who would earn a trip to the Pro Bowl, and 2nd Team All-Pro honors for his impressive debut season. Let’s take a look at my own ‘Nowhere Near Mint’ John Offerdahl 1987 Topps Rookie Card. (# 244)One of my favorite cards that I’ve kept around since those early fan days. John was the ultimate player for the equipment envious youngster, like me, who was playing football in the late 80’s & early 90’s.
Miami Dolphins
Don Shula Gets win #325
With a 19-14 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles on November 14th, 1993, Miami Dolphins Head Coach Don Shula recorded his 325th win to become the winningest coach in NFL History. Can you guys name the rookie Quarterback who would later become a head coach himself that helped lead the Phins to the W that day?
Pete Stoyanovich
🏈🔥You win some. You Lose Some. Happy B-Day to kicker Pete Stoyanovich! He was 1st team All-Pro in 1992 & led the league in scoring. (124pts) He holds the record for longest field goal in playoff history. A 58 yarder in a 17-16 dramatic Wild Card win over the Chiefs in '90.
On the other hand, that miss against the Chargers in the ‘94 Divisional Round when I was 13 year old fan was so brutal. Dashing my Dolphin Super Bowl hopes. Thanks for the memories Pete👍🏈
Which missed field goal do you remember most?
There is one other kicker who has matched Pete’s Playoff Boot of 58 yards. Who is he?
Happy Birthday Bob Griese!
R.I.P Coach Shula
On This Day 2020- Legendary Miami Dolphins Head Coach Don Shula passed away at the age of 90. His 347 career wins is the most by any NFL Coach in history.
Nice Days - A.J. Duhe
Days don’t get much nicer than January 23rd, 1983 was for Miami Dolphins Linebacker A.J. Duhe in the appropriately named ‘Mud Bowl’ that was the AFC Championship Game. The Dolphins Linebacker intercepted New York Jets Quarterback Richard Todd # 3 times during the 14-0 Phins Victory on that soggy day in South Florida.
Man, I miss a good backyard Pigskin Pick-up game in the Mud on a rainy weekend.
Have a killer weekend Everybody!
Super Bowl VII MVP Jake Scott
On This Day in 1973 The Miami Dolphins topped the Washington Redskins 14-7 in Super Bowl VII. With the win, the Dolphins finished the season at 17-0 securing the first & only undefeated season in NFL history. MVP that game was safety Jake Scott who intercepted two passes with 63 return yards including a 55 yard return in the 4th quarter. R.I.P to the original # 13. I know my Grandfather was crushing some Beers that day.
Quick little side stat for ya dudes. The 84 degree Kickoff Temperature that day in the LA Coliseum is still the highest of any Super Bowl.
Merry Xmas! Go Phins!

Marino Monday
Mark Clayton Was The Coolest!
Always a favorite of mine growing up, Clayton hauled in 18 Touchdowns from Dan Marino in 1984. That’s still good for third All-Time. Here’s my Original Nowhere Near Mint 1987 Topps Mark Clayton (# 237) from my childhood card collecting days.
Happy Holiblaze
December 24th, 1989 - Coldest Game Ever Played at Joe Robbie Stadium
30 years ago today the Miami Dolphins & Kansas City Chiefs played a basically meaningless game in the final week of the 1989 season. It is the coldest home game ever played by the Dolphins. Temperatures at the 1 p.m. kickoff hung around 38 degrees with a wind chill of 28. I remember being 8 years old and being so stoked because we were actually having a cold Xmas in South Florida! It was a back and forth battle in the frozen tropics that day between two teams hanging on by a thread in the playoff push. The Chiefs would go on to win 27-24 and finish their season 8-7-1. Miami finished 8-8. Happy Holidays!
O.J. McDuffie
O.J. McDuffie’s 415 career receptions ranks 4th all time in Miami Dolphins lore. He became the 1st Dolphin to ever lead the league in receptions when he hauled in 90 passes during the 1998 season.Happy Birthday Otis James !!
Dan Marino Throws for 521 yards and Dolphins still lose
Wayback Wednesday- October 23rd, 1988 Dynamic Dan Marino goes 35-60 for 521 yards in a Dolphins 44-30 loss to the New York Jets. The yardage output is the 7th most yards thrown for in an NFL Game. Marino threw three touchdowns during the aerial attack, but also had 5 Interceptions. Bummer man.
My Dan Marino Xmas Tree
Happy Birthday to Dan ‘The Man’ Marino!! My Wife & I turned Dan into our X-Mas Angel back in 2017, after some guy at work found this life-size cardboard cut-out in the garbage one day. Happy Sunday Dudes!
Happy Birthday Oronde Gadsden
A happy belated Birthday to my man Oronde Gadsden, the WR who caught Dan Marino’s 420th & final touchdown pass. Happy Wednesday Dudes!
Super Duper!
Summer Time Movie Night - Weekend At Bernie's
Happy Birthday - Sammie Smith
Sammie Smith lasted only 3 years with the Dolphins after they selected the former FSU Running Back 9th Overall in 1989. He was pretty much run out of town during the 1991 season when he had fumbles at the goal line in back to back games. I can remember kinda feeling bad for they guy when everybody started chanting ‘Sammie Sucks’ Happy Birthday Sammie! Hope all is well.
