Thank You!! Negro Leagues Benefit Sale
I wanted to send out a Thank You to everyone who bought Issue # 1 of our Negro Leagues Fanzine Series. It was so rad to witness all the hard work, and amazing art that 100 plus artists put towards this cause. We’re happy to be able to send over our donation to the @nlbmkc. Issue # 1 will remain available in the shop. So pick yourself up a copy. Only $12.
** When I joined the cause I had set out to create just a single Issue for this week’s benefit, but came across so much amazing information, that I knew I had to keep going and create more pages honoring such an important period of time in our country’s history. So expect Issues #2 & #3 sometime over the next couple months. Please reach out if you’d like to contribute, art & or stories to the future Issues. I really hope to make them more collaborative. Thanks.

Willie Totten & Jerry Rice - Satellite Express
We’re sending out a birthday cheer to our guy, Mr. Jerry Rice. Let’s go back to October 13th, 1984 during Jerry’s senior season when the 4-0 Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils were taking on the Grambling Tigers led by the great coach Eddie Robinson. Jerry & his main man, Quarterback, Willie ‘Satellite’ Totten were setting the record books on fire that 1984 season. Through the first 4 games the Devils were averaging a crazy 57 points a game! Willie had thrown 30 TD’s already, and Jerry had caught 14 of them. Valley would beat Grambling that day 48-36, for the school’s first victory ever over the Tigers. By season’s end The ‘Satellite Express’ had set all new Division I-AA records, with Willie’s 58 TD’s along with Jerry’s 112 catches, for 1,845 yds, and an insane 27 touchdowns.
I Wonder Who Billy Is Rooting For?
After playing a reserve role for the Los Angeles Lakers during Back to Back Championship seasons, Billy Thompson was left unprotected in the 1988 Expansion Draft, where he was selected by the Miami Heat with the 3rd overall selection. He played in 79 games for the Expansion Heat, averaging 10.8 ppg.
Did you know that Billy is one of only four players to have won a NCAA Championship & a NBA Championship in back to back years?
Mike Singletary - 'Heart of the Defense'
Wishing a Happy 61st Birthday to ‘The Heart of The Defense’ Mr. Mike Singletary. Did you know Mike earned 1st Team All-Pro honors for 7 straight years?!? (‘83-’89) Including two NFL Defensive Player of the year awards. (‘85 & ‘88)

The Amazing Blaze Zine
Happy Sunday Dudes!! Lots of stuff in the works here at @amazingblazezine //// Be on the Lookout this week!!
On This Day- The Miracle at Michigan
Who doesn’t love a ‘Hail Mary’ ending? One of the wildest College Football conclusions I can remember as a youngster was the ‘Miracle at Michigan’ which took place on this date back in 1994. Kordell Stewart’s 60 yard heave found the arms of Michael Westbrook to cap off a 13 point Colorado comeback in the final 2 minutes for a 27-26 Buffaloes victory.
Blaze - September 23rd
Happy Birthday Eric Montross!
Happy Birthday Eric Montross!
Bobby Pfeil
This is utility man Bobby Pfeil. As a rookie he was member of the 1969 Miracle Mets. On July 27th, 1971 while playing catcher for the Philadelphia Phillies Bobby homered twice off Houston Astros pitcher Larry Dierker in the 1st game of a Doubleheader . Those two dingers would turn out to be the only homers of his short career. He was out of baseball the next season.
#00 - It's Jeffrey. Don't Call Me Jeff Leonard.
Dudes We Dig !
Jeffrey ‘Hac Man’ Leonard. 2x All-Star. Once in the National League (Giants) & once in the American League (Mariners). Loved his ‘One Flap Down’ home run trot during the ‘87 NLCS vs the St. Louis Cardinals. As of now, Hac Man is the last player to be named the Most Valuable Player of a LCS or World Series while a member of the losing team. For the series he hit .417 with 4 homers, 5 rbi’s, 5 runs, 10 hits and a .917 slugging pct.
Cecil Fielder
Happy Birthday Cecil Fielder!! Cecil hit 51 Home Runs back in 1990 becoming first MLB player to reach 50 or more homers since 1977. Who out there can name the slugger who hit 52 that season?
