Steve Wallace - San Francisco 49ers Offensive Tackle # 74
Happy Birthday to Steve Wallace. The San Francisco 49ers Offensive Tackle protected two of the best, Joe Montana & Steve Young, from 1986 to 1996, while winning three Super Bowls. Unfortunately he broke his ankle on the 3rd play of Super Bowl XXIII. I mostly remember Steve for his huge padded helmet that he donned for several years after suffering numerous concussions.

December 24th, 1989 - Coldest Game Ever Played at Joe Robbie Stadium
30 years ago today the Miami Dolphins & Kansas City Chiefs played a basically meaningless game in the final week of the 1989 season. It is the coldest home game ever played by the Dolphins. Temperatures at the 1 p.m. kickoff hung around 38 degrees with a wind chill of 28. I remember being 8 years old and being so stoked because we were actually having a cold Xmas in South Florida! It was a back and forth battle in the frozen tropics that day between two teams hanging on by a thread in the playoff push. The Chiefs would go on to win 27-24 and finish their season 8-7-1. Miami finished 8-8. Happy Holidays!
Happy Birthday John Randle
John Randle is second All-Time amongst Defensive Tackles with 137.5 sacks over his 14 year career. Can you dudes name the other Viking Great who leads the list with 148.5? Happy Birthday John!
Happy Birthday Art Monk!
Hall of Fame WR Art Monk had at least 35 receptions and 1 Touchdown for 15 straight seasons. (1980-1994) He is also a distant relative of the great Jazz Pianist Thelonious Monk. Happy Birthday Art !
O.J. McDuffie
O.J. McDuffie’s 415 career receptions ranks 4th all time in Miami Dolphins lore. He became the 1st Dolphin to ever lead the league in receptions when he hauled in 90 passes during the 1998 season.Happy Birthday Otis James !!

Lincoln Coleman
Thanksgiving Throwback to 1993 and the infamous ‘Leon Lett Snow Game’ between the Dallas Cowboys & Miami Dolphins. Of course the crazy ending got all the attention that snowy day in Dallas, but another Cowboy I remember making an impact was Rookie Running Back Lincoln Coleman. In his very first game he carried the ball 10 times for 57 yards after stepping in for a banged up Emmitt Smith. I’ll always remember Dick Enberg & Bob Trumpy telling the story how just a year prior Lincoln was working at Home Depot, & playing Semi-Pro Football. Lincoln’s Dad was able to proudly display his son’s accomplishments that Holiday as he had worked for over twenty years at the Dallas Morning News as a Press Man. We wish Lincoln & his family a Happy Thanksgiving! Thank You for the memories.
Madden & Summerall
On November 25th 1979 CBS Sports teamed up then announcing duo of Pat Summerall & John Madden for the first time. Madden, the Rookie Color Man was replacing Summerall’s normal pal Tom Brookshier in the booth that balmy day in Tampa Bay where the Minnesota Vikings would squeak out a 23-22 victory over the Buccaneers behind QB Tommy Kramer’s 3 touchdown passes. Pat & John would go on to cover games together for the next twenty-two years including three Super Bowls.
Did you know? - Keith Byars
Over his career Southpaw Keith Byars was 6 of 13 on Halfback passes with all six completions being Touchdowns. Happy Friday Dudes!
What If's? - Al Toon
Al Toon finished his seven year career with 517 receptions. He’s one of only two receivers with over 500 receptions in 110 games or fewer. Al's 93 catches in 1988 led the NFL. Happy belated B-day!
Dudes We Dig - Ickey Woods
Do the Shuffle. The ‘Ickey Shuffle’ that is. Remember Ickey Woods breakout Rookie Season in 1988? The ‘Runin Rebel’ ran for 1,066 yards, led the league with a 5.3 ypc average and scored 15 Touchdowns as he helped the Bengals reach Super Bowl XXIII. Unfortunately knee injuries in ‘89 would derail his promising career and he would only rush for 455 yards over the next three seasons. Ickey was ultimately forced to retire in 1991 at just 25 years old.
Shot Putter Michael Carter
Niners Nose Tackle Michael Carter was an Olympic Athlete before his days in the trenches winning Super Bowls with San Francisco. In the 1984 Olympics he won the Silver Medal in the Shot-put. A cool story about his shot-put days dates back to his Senior year of High School in 1979 when he heaved the shot 81 ft. 3 1/2” to set the National High School Record. No other High Schooler has come within 2 ft of that distance during the last 40 years. His daughter Michelle won the Shot-Put Gold Medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics. Happy Birthday Michael !!

Dan Marino Throws for 521 yards and Dolphins still lose
Wayback Wednesday- October 23rd, 1988 Dynamic Dan Marino goes 35-60 for 521 yards in a Dolphins 44-30 loss to the New York Jets. The yardage output is the 7th most yards thrown for in an NFL Game. Marino threw three touchdowns during the aerial attack, but also had 5 Interceptions. Bummer man.
Orlando Thomas
Happy Birthday to our man, Mr.Orlando Thomas. Orlando led the NFL in Interceptions as a rookie in 1995 when he nabbed nine.Thomas roamed the secondary for the Vikings for seven seasons becoming known primarily as The Dude who was either gonna make the ‘pick or the stick.’ Sadly Orlando lost a battle with ALS & passed away at the age of 42 in 2014.
