Let’s give it up for our Bud Michael Williams. The Minnesota Timberwolves guard holds the NBA record for most consecutive Free Throws made. Williams sank # 97 straight from the charity stripe over 19 games from March 24th to November 9th, of 1993. His eighty four in a row to finish the ‘92-’93 season surpassed the previous record of 78 set by Calvin Murphy in 1981. Mike hit his first thirteen of the fresh season before missing one in a 110-95 loss to the San Antonio Spurs on November 9th.

Lowell’s last MLB appearance was in September of 1974. Just a mere two months before a mystery man using the alias Dan Cooper hijacked Northwest Orient Airlines Flight 305 from Portland to Seattle. Cooper calmly demanded $200,000, and parachutes from authorities. At some point he leapt from the back stairs of the plane as it flew over the Columbia River Wilderness. Lowell resurfaced in Venezuela in ‘74-75 after his days in the bigs, pitching for the Cardenales de Lara. (Lara Cardinals) Seems like the perfect little place to lie low while the heat cools down if you ask me. Palmer went 2-6 with a 3.56 ERA in 65 Innings of work. However, we mostly remember Lowell for his 1989 season with the West Palm Beach Tropics of the Senior Professional Baseball Association. At 42 he was the 2nd oldest player on the Tropics. Any Tropics fans out there know who was the oldest?
It was back on November 7th, 1991 that Los Angeles Lakers Legend Earvin ‘Magic’ Johnson abruptly retired from the NBA due to his contraction of the HIV Virus.

Looking Good ‘Cat Man’ !! Forward Terry Catledge is the dude who refused to give up his # 33 to Shaquile O’Neal, when the phenom was selected 1st overall by the Orlando Magic in 1992, forcing Shaq-Fu to select his old High School # 32 instead. Terry had led the Magic in scoring with 19.4 ppg in their inaugural season of 1989-90. Happy Birthday Terry !!
A Sunday salute to our bud Mr. Tyrone Corbin who recorded the first triple-double in Minnesota Timberwolves history, when he racked up 10 points, 13 rebounds and a career-high 10 assists, against the Dallas Mavericks back on January 2, 1991.
Jerome ‘Pooh’ Richardson Jr. was the first draft pick in Minnesota Timberwolves history. The former UCLA guard was selected 10th overall in the 1989 draft. Pooh was voted first team all rookie for the ‘89-’90 season which saw the expansion Wolves go 22-60. Happy Birthday Pooh!

Bobby Joe Edmonds’ 1987 Topps card always stood out to me as a youngster. He looked like a kid superhero to me. I also think it caught my eye for the shear amount of wordage on the front. The long name, hyphenated position designation, his hat & that iconic Topps Super Rookie banner at the bottom. The ‘87 Topps Football set was the first card set I can remember looking at as a kid. 6 or 7 years old. Bobby actually earned a trip to Honolulu & first team all-pro honors as a Rookie Kick Returner in 1986. In the final 1:30 of the 2nd quarter in a week 12 matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles, the Seahawks special teams recorded both a block punt return for a TD along with a Bobby Joe 75 yard Punt return TD. The Hawks held on for a 24-20 victory. It would be Bobby’s only career TD.
