Can you name the Hall of Fame Pitcher who gave up an infield single to Bo Jackson for his 1st career MLB hit?
Kansas City Royals
Danny Jackson's Immaculate Inning
Did you know that Danny Jackson is the only pitcher to have ever pitched an ‘Immaculate Inning’ in a World Series Game? That’s right in the 7th Inning of Game 5 during the 1985 World Series, Danny struck out the Cardinals Side with just 9 pitches.
September 30th- 3,000 Hits Twenty Years Apart
On September 30th, 1972 ‘The Great One’ Roberto Clemente laced a double into left centerfield to become the 11th Major League Player to reach 3,000 hits. It would ultimately be Roberto’s final career hit. Fast forward 20 years, to the 30th of September 1992 during a night time affair in Anaheim. Kansas City Royals DH George Brett goes 4 for 4 to reach the 3,000 hit plateau in a 4-0 Royals win. During the 20 year period between Roberto & George 6 other MLB sluggers reached the 3,000 hit milestone. I’ve got an Issue of Blaze going out to the 1st person who DM’s over those 6 players.

Rolaids Relief Man of The Year - Dan Quisenberry
Happy Birthday to Mr. Dan Quisenberry. Dan led the American League in saves 5X, while also being awarded the ‘Rolaids Relief Man of The Year Award’ in each of those seasons (‘80,’82-’85) R.I.P. Quiz!
Any guesses on what the U.L. stands for in U.L. Washington?
Happy Birthday Mark Gubicza!
Happy Birthday Mark Gubicza! Mark had his best season back in 1988 while pitching for the Kansas City Royals when he went 20-8 with a 2.70 e.r.a. and finished 3rd in the AL Cy Young vote. He also made one of his two career All-Star appearances; with the other being in 1989 when he led the league in games started with 36.
Bo vs Deion
It was back on July 17th, 1990 that the dynamic dual sport duo of Bo Jackson & Deion Sanders met for the fifth and final time on the baseball diamond. Bo started off the festivities with a homer to centerfield in the top of the 1st, just passed the outstretched glove of Deion as he scaled the wall. Bo would homer two more times in the 3rd & 5th innings. His shot to right center in the 3rd measured in at 464 ft.
‘Neon Deion’ got in on the homerun theme himself with one of the inside the park variety. In the bottom of the 6th, Bo made a diving attempt at Deion’s liner to center, just missing it, allowing Sanders to round the bases, ultimately leaping over the Royals Cather Mike MacFarlane at the plate to score. It was the first inside the park homer for the Yankees franchise since 1984. Unfortunately Jackson hurt his shoulder on the dive, and would miss the next month of baseball. Both teams went on to have pretty bummer years with the Royals finishing at 75-86 and the Yankees faring even worse with a 67-95 record.
Willie Wilson
Willie Wilson was the coolest! The speedster hit only 41 homers over his 19 seasons, but 13 of them were inside the park round trippers. He had five alone in 1979. Happy Birthday Willie !!
Happy Birthday Amos Otis!
Happy Belated B-Day to one cool dude, Mr. Amos Otis. On September 7th, 1971 he became the 1st player since 1927 to steal 5 bases in one game. He led the AL in stolen bases that year with 52.
My first two dogs as a kid were named Amos & Otis.
