I'm Back! - Michael Jordan's NBA Return

Anybody else remember watching this one?? On this Day 25 years ago, Michael Jordan returned to the NBA for his first game in over 17 months away playing Baseball. The Bulls matched up with the Indiana Pacers in an early Sunday afternoon showdown. It became the NBA’s most watched regular season game since 1975. MJ went on to play 43 minutes scoring 19 points along with 6 rebounds, and 6 assists. The Pacers would defeat the Bulls in Overtime 103-96, with Reggie Miller leading the way for Indiana with 28 points.

In his first All-Star Game back from retirement Michael Jordan poured in 20 points along with 4 rebounds during an Eastern Conference 129-118 victory. The performance would earn him MVP honors, although many fans thought East teammate Shaquille O’Neal should have been named MVP for his 25 pts & 10 rebounds.

1991 Bulls

I know I’m a day late, but Congrats to those 1991 Bulls who on June 12th, 1991 pulled out a victory in Game 5 of the NBA Finals to complete a 4-1 series win over the L.A. Lakers. This was the first Championship for the Chicago Bulls Franchise. They would go on to win five more in the next seven seasons. This was also the first NBA Finals I can remember watching as a youngster. I was 10. That Saturday my family had to go to my cousin’s High School Graduation at the West Palm Beach Auditorium, so I had to try and tape the beginning of the game before we could get home. I can totally remember writing ‘Game 5-Bulls vs Lakers’ on the label of that VHS tape.
