Michael Barrow Was A Bad Dude
Birthday shout-out to Mr. Michael Barrow, the 1992 Big East Defensive Player of the Year, & first team All-American Linebacker for the University of Miami. (‘89-’92) He even placed 7th in the Heisman race that season.
Who can forget him separating Seminole Wide Receiver Tamarick Vanover from his senses back in the infamous ‘Wide Right II’ game played back in October of 1992. # 561
Pat Terrell
Birthday shoutout to former Notre Dame Safety Pat Terrell. He broke the hearts of Miami Hurricane fans everywhere when he broke up the 2pt conversion attempt during the infamous ‘Catholics vs. Convicts’ game in 1988. The stop preserved a 31-30 Irish victory during their run to a National Championship season. Pat also returned an Interception 60 yards for a Touchdown earlier in the contest.

Antonio Langham - 1992 SEC Championship
Remember Antonio Langham’s pick six in the 1992 SEC Championship game? With the score tied 21-21 late in the 4th quarter, Antonio stepped right in front of Florida Gators quarterback Shane Matthews fluttering pass, and took it 27 yards to the house. Bama would prevail 28-21, allowing the undefeated Crimson Tide to move into the National Title game. This was the very first SEC Championship game, and in fact it was the first post-season Conference title game in Division I Football. They ended up running all over the other undefeated squad in college football, the #1 Miami Hurricanes, 34-13 in the Sugar Bowl. Langham holds the all time Alabama INT record with 19. Happy Birthday Antonio!
Trick Plays - The Puntrooskie
Before he was leaping in Lambeau for the Green Bay Packers, Leroy Butler is most well known in Florida State lore for a trick play he was a part of back in 1988 on a sloppy field in September. The 10th ranked Seminoles were at Memorial Stadium aka ‘Death Valley’ taking on the 3rd ranked Clemson Tigers. It was the first game in Death Valley history where the Tigers & their opponent were both ranked in the top ten. With the score 21-21 & just 1:33 left in the game, Coach Bobby Bowden dug deep into his playbook and pulled out the aptly titled ‘Puntrooskie.’ A top secret play the Noles had been working on. Backed up at their own 21 yard line, facing a 4th & 4, FSU lined up to punt it away. Wink wink. Instead, the ball was snapped to upback Dayne Williams who then took a step forward and handed the ball off between Leroy Butler’s legs. Butler stayed still for a second, allowing the defenders to follow the fake, and then suddenly he was taking off down the left side of the field, finally being run out of bounds at the four yard line. FSU converted a field goal, to pull out the victory 24-21. Who fakes a punt at their own 21??
Emmitt Smith
UF era Emmitt Smith was the coolest!! With almost 1600 yds rushing and 14 TD’s, The Pensacola Prophet was An Unanimous First Team All American in 1989. He would forgo his Senior season to enter the NFL Draft. 1990 was the first year underclassmen were allowed to be drafted without some kind of exemption.
